Sotogrande Holiday Season

Sotogrande Festive Season | part 2

As we have already mentioned in our first blog about Christmas in Sotogrande, spending your Christmas holidays here are exceptional and exclusive.
Even at this time of year, Sotogrande has a lot to offer. To escape the hectic of the big city, work or family pressure, Sotogrande is the perfect hideaway for you Christmas holiday.
In this second blog about the Festive season in Sotogrande, we will give you some insight information from real Sotogrande connoisseurs…
Sotogrande area
During this beautiful time of year, with an average temperature of 16 to 18 degrees, we advice you to take a walk through the Sotogrande area. Visit the marina with it´s cosy restaurants and bars or have a good stroll along the Sotogrande beach, a game of golf with family or friends or a family lunch in Restaurant La Quinta, with stunning views over the polo fields. The Sunday market is worth visiting, just as to do some workouts or relaxing treatments at the Almenara Welness & Spa hotel.
Gibraltar
Only at a distance of 15 minutes, Gibraltar is a great place to visit. There are many  interesting things to be seen, such as the Barbary Macaques (the famous Apes), the great Siege Tunnels, St Michael´s Cave, the Moorish Castle, the One hundred ton gun, Europa point and lot´s of tax free shops in Main street. Further more you can join the Gibraltar Dolphin Safari or have a nice break at one of the English or Irish pubs and restaurants in Ocean Village. Did you know that the Gibraltar synagogue is a 100% copy of the synagogue in Amsterdam/Holland? Please don´t forget your passport, you have to cross the border from Spain into Gibraltar!
Sevilla
Perhaps the most beautiful city in Andalusia, is Seville, Sevilla in Spanish. At 2 hours distance from Sotogrande, this 15th century city has the largest cathedral in Europe. Go back in history by visiting the Alcazar Royal Palace & gardens and the Roman ruins just outside Seville. Take a stroll through the old city centre and you will find the most amazing, specialized shops, from real Cuban cigars to authentic Moorish gift shops. Don´t forget to go to a Tapas bar at night where you can experience a Tablao Flamenco performance. Seville is an absolute must-visit!
Sierra Nevada
Are you still missing the real Christmas feeling during your stay in Sotogrande? Take the car and in 2,5 hours drive you are in the Sierra Neveda, the place to be for skiing. The Sierra Nevada (meaning “snowy range” in Spanish) is a mountain range in the region of Andalusia. It contains the highest point of continental Spain, Mulhacen at 3478 m (11,411 ft.) above sea level.
It is a popular destination, as its high peaks make skiing possible in one of Europe’s most southerly ski resorts, in an area along the Mediterranean See, predominantly known for its warm temperatures and abundant sunshine. At its foothills is found the city of  Granada.
Wishing you a very, merry Christmas and a prosperous 2013!
